As a distance-based health provider, the International Pharmacy Association
of British Columbia (IPA BC) is committed to the provision of safe and affordable
medications to consumers around the world.
IPA BC members adhere to the highest safety and ethical standards in the world,
providing professional pharmacy care to help people achieve better health.
While the ordering process varies slightly from pharmacy to pharmacy,
most practices are standard across Canada. By dealing with an IPA BC
certified pharmacy, you can be confident that you are conducting business
with a reputable health care provider.
Having a prescription filled through an International Pharmacy’s online
service is similar to ordering from a conventional pharmacy but has more
safeguards. To give you a better understanding of the ordering process, we
have outlined the steps below.
- Contact the Canadian International Pharmacy. There are, and should always
be, a number of ways to reach the pharmacy such as: telephone, fax, mail or Internet.
- New clients will be required to complete an order form/patient's profile
detailing their medical history, current health status, allergies and current
medications.
- You will be asked to mail, fax or e-mail your prescription issued by your
physician who has conducted a face-to-face examination with you.
- Upon receiving your order form and prescription, a licensed pharmacist will
review the prescription checking for dosage irregularities
and possible drug interactions. If required, the International Pharmacy may
contact your prescribing physician to confirm or clarify a prescription.
- The Canadian International Pharmacy may forward your medical profile and
prescription to a licensed Canadian physician who conducts an independent medical
review before issuing a Canadian prescription.
- The new Canadian prescription is then filled by a licensed pharmacy and sent
to the mailing address provided by you.
